The Conscious Exchange: when power is intentionally given away

Last week, we explored what happens when we diminish our power by not recognizing it at all.We touched on the pain of not knowing you are powerful, and how that kind of loss—subtle and silent—can cost us dearly.

But today, I want to explore another side.

We often think of powerlessness as something that happens to us—as if it were stolen, stripped away, or taken without consent.

And yes, that’s one truth. But here’s another:

What about the power we willingly give away?

Warning: Empowered Questions ahead...

  • What about the times we consciously choose to shrink ourselves to maintain status, comfort, or control?

  • What about when we silence our truth, negotiate our worth, or override our needs for the sake of being liked, loved, or chosen?

  • How many times have we over-given, over-extended, or over-compromised just to keep a relationship alive?

I’m not talking about selflessness. I’m talking about self-abandonment disguised as love.

Have you ever ignored the lack of reciprocity in a relationship? knowing deep down the playing field was never level, yet you tolerated it because you sensed the other person wasn’t capable of giving more? You took the emotional loss quietly, while your power leaked from the inside out.

Have you ever let people off the hook? Not because they deserved grace, but because you didn’t see yourself as worthy enough to receive more?

We say “It’s okay,” or “Don’t worry about it,” or “I’m good” when deep down we're not good.

We enter relationships while our hearts are in lack, our souls are still wounded, hoping the connection will save us, will fill us, will make us feel whole.

And beloved, this is the conscious exchange:

The giving away of our power in exchange for love, acceptance, validation, and belonging.

It creates a bond built on imbalance. It creates relationships rooted in depletion, not divinity.

I know this, not just in theory but in truth.

I’ve lived every line of this post. I am an expert in reclaiming power because I’ve done all the things to lose it. And I’ve made the journey back.

Now, I hold sacred space for women ready to do the same. If you've answered yes to any of the questions above, if any part of this post resonated with you I want to invite you to join me...

This Sunday, Step into the Reclamation of Power Circle

This isn’t just a healing circle—it’s a soul-deep reawakening. An invitation to take your power off the clearance rack and place it back on the altar where it belongs. The altar of your own heart.

We’ll explore where you’ve lost it, given it away, or if it's currently being siphoned and more importantly we’ll do the sacred work of bringing you back to wholeness.
